BRENT SIEVERS

Character Development Lead for The Land of Boggs and Ultimate Guy Pals

Brent Sievers (he/him) has been with the Animation Lab since 2017, and has been a Character Development Lead since 2020. He wants to make fun animations that people share with their friends and family. The human experience is infinite and Brent wants to dredge every corner of it. His school, Rhode Island School of Design, taught him to be a self-sufficient filmmaker adept in all parts of the animation pipeline – when he heard BuzzFeed had a small, scrappy, animation team, he knew it would be the perfect spot for his unique skill set! At the Animation Lab, Brent is the co-creator and  lead of The Land of Boggs team. He writes and directs most episodes and storyboards about half of them. Looking to the future, while traditional animation industry practices required large teams to produce long form work, Brent sees the rise of short-form content as an avenue for independent animators to rise up.

Brent’s favorite workflow shortcut is very few in-betweens and strong poses. His advice to aspiring animators is, “Make short things and finish them.”

Brent has won the Jury prize at PISAF, been nominated twice for YouTube’s Streamy awards, and got into the 2016 porn festival, HUMP, which he’s very proud of. From Washington, he currently lives in Los Angeles and loves the artist community and relentless posi vibes. Brent’s into playing tennis, post punk, breakfast burritos, and Kelly Reinhardt films.
