LORYN BRANTZ

Animation Creative Director for The Good Advice Cupcake

Loryn Brantz (she/they) has been with BuzzFeed since 2014, where she has moved up the ranks to Creative Director. Her greatest dream is that her work makes people feel less alone and happier. At the Animation Lab, Loryn leads The Good Advice Cupcake team. Her favorite part of the role is working with her wonderful teammates. She loves knowing that she had a hand in hiring them and that she clearly made great choices! Loryn also loves being able to have the freedom to try new things and be creative – which she feels is an overall benefit to working at BuzzFeed. Loryn foresees a creator's market, with a focus on smaller but more engaged audiences. As for the Cuppy team, she predicts a hit TV show on a streaming platform!

Loryn's advice for aspiring animators is, “Learn the new computer programs even if you'd rather still draw everything on a lightbox.”

Loryn is the creator of The Good Advice Cupcake, Jellybean Baby Comics, and two best-selling board book series Feminist Baby and It Had To Be You (Love Poems Your Baby Can See). She is also a two-time Emmy Award winner for her work on Sesame St. Loryn lives in New York City with her husband, architect Jake J Brotter, daughter Dalia, and son Ronen.
