Animator for Chikn Nuggit

Matt Pierce (he/him) has been an Animator on Chikn Nuggit since 2022. He’s in his element, his natural habitat, and he loves every minute of it. As an artist, he’s bounced between game design, illustration, and video production. He’s a lifelong Kirby/Nintendo kid, so he’s always drawn to the cute, the bold, and the weird. Matt’s favorite artists include Nick Edwards, Steve Wolfhard, Keita Takahashi, Hayashida Q, the AC-bu guys, and Akira Toriyama. He feels like an artist's truth shines through their work more often than not, even if it's through something silly, but he would like to make something that makes people cry someday.

Matt’s advice to aspiring animators is, “Pick an artist you like and copy them. Absorb whatever you can and then (and this is important) pick ANOTHER artist and copy them. Keep doing that until you're good, then retire.” Also, “Just knowing any hotkeys is life or death in this medium.”

A born-and-raised Californian, Matt moved to the Los Angeles area to find animation work and be closer to his friends. He doesn’t go out much at the moment but likes knowing there's always a mall nearby. He’s been itching to start attending board-game meetups again. Matt’s current loves are All Elite Wrestling, On Cinema at the Cinema, Dungeon Meshi, Dai Dark, anything made by the Daniels, trashy reality dating shows, obscure Japanese board games that are impossible to find, Documental,  Mega Man Zero, Ghoulies movies, and Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger.
