TIMM DAZA
Animator for Puerco y Babosa
Timm Daza is a 2D Animator who has been with the BuzzFeed Animation Lab since early 2024, as a core team member on the show Puerco y Babosa. He loves bringing drawings to life, and enjoys the variety and unique challenges each shot presents, which keeps the work fun and engaging.
Timm spent 15 years as a tattoo artist before transitioning to animation. Although it once seemed like an unattainable dream, an encounter with a character designer inspired him to make the switch. Timm draws inspiration from classic cartoons like Rocky and Bullwinkle and Fractured Fairytales by Jay Ward.
Timm’s favorite workflow shortcuts are coffee and command Z, helping him stay productive and efficient. Looking ahead, he hopes to continue creating his own personal work and predicts growth in independent animation as big studios struggle to navigate their futures.
Through his work, Timm aims to make people laugh, but there can also be a message. He recently started collaborating with his partner on a show addressing environmental issues in a humorous way. He tries not to take himself too seriously - we are making cartoons after all!
For aspiring animators, Timm’s advice is simple: "Make stuff, you have all the tools in front of you." He emphasizes the importance of showcasing personal work over projects done for others, a lesson he learned from a producer.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Timm still lives there and truly appreciates living in a walkable city where you definitely never need a car. His top interests includes socks. He really really loves socks!
